The Crazy Weather

December 15, 2008

As you may know I am from Oklahoma.  Now, Oklahoma has some pretty awesome weather…and by awesome I mean insanely crazy.  There are tornadoes.  There are lightning storms.  There are gale force winds.  There are massive rains storms.  There are ice storms.  Just ask anyone in Moore, Oklahoma.  I mean they don’t call it Tornado Alley for nothing.  It’s amazing.  I wonder if there is another place on earth that you can see the weather change from 90 degrees and sunny to raining to snow and back to 90 degrees again in the same day!?  Wow.

But the funny thing is that when I moved to Texas, people acted like the smallest storm was the end of the world.  I mean come on.  For example, one night I was playing poker with some guys.  The weather was rainy and dark.  There ended up being a tornado 30 miles north of where we were.  The whole storm system was headed in the opposite direction.  These guys were freaking out.  Let me restate that.  They were FREAKING OUT!  They were so glued to the tv that I cleaned them out!  Ha.

Then came the move to California.  Wow.  Gorgeous.  Waves.  Sand.  Palm trees.  Good stuff.  Weather?  Not so much.  It has actually rained here a few times since we arrived.  From what I hear, that’s a lot!  Well, this past week, the news stations and their “weather men/women” have been going insane worrying about the upcoming storm.  Ha.  They have been calling it Storm Watch!  Oh no!  That’s terrible!  We may all wash away!  Dun, dun, dunnnnnnnn!  Well, we were out driving in the “storm” today.  It was rainy.  It was pretty windy too.  But that’s it.  There was no thunder.  There was no lightning.  And I thought it was bad when Texas people couldn’t drive at all on the ice.  Californians can’t drive in the rain!  Good times.

Man I miss Gary England!

Glad you guys are liking it there! We’ve found there are pros and cons to every region you live in. It’s all what you get used to! The “rain” in Seattle… is mist. They complain about rain when they don’t even GET rain. Wind… almost nonexistent. Truly God’s country. I’d live there in a heartbeat. Mountains, beaches, valleys, lakes, ferry’s, orchards and wilderness!

Earthquakes… not a fan. Traffic… not so much. We have to pick and choose our battles!

ah, you would have…. um… enjoyed yesterday, high was 12. I kid you not. The wind had it in single digits. I NEVER wear gloves, man, I was decked in gloves and a coat! Everyone was out shopping though. BC Clark in the background. This am, it is 16, icey drizzle, and work and school are all still on. Yep, weather wonderland here in OK! Enjoy the sun. Bought a Santa in swim shorts yesterday to commemorate your move! missing you this season!

I personally like the 4 seasons but not when they occur in one day like may happen here. I least like the heat,ie >80 degrees.
