Hell Has Frozen Over!

November 25, 2008

So last night the craziest thing happened!  You know that weird phenomenon that happens when you go to Wal-Mart and inevitably come out with more than you needed or went for?  I don’t understand how it happens.  Maybe it is just poor planning.  Maybe it’s because I go up and down all the food aisles.  Who knows.  Ever since I lived in Houston for a summer several years ago, I have always heard that people in Texas prefer Target to Wal-Mart.  Well, I guess when it comes to quality most people prefer most anything to Wal-Mart.  But you sure can’t beat the price!  (and therefore I go there)  Most people also don’t like the lines.  Yes they suck.  I have stood in line for an hour and a half before during food stamp time.  That was nuts.  But I digress.

We have now lived in Dana Point, CA for one week.  We were told that people go to Ralph’s, Trader Joe’s or Albertson’s for groceries.  Ok.  Cool.  We will check those out.  Well, of course we go for the normal.  Wal-Mart it is.  Every Wal-Mart is the same, right?  Well, we trekked all over the place to find the nearest Wal-Mart (which is probably a good 15 minute drive away from us…not worth it right?).  Finally we find it and arrive (no thanks to!  Ok so now the shopping.  We head inside and realize that this Wal-Mart doesn’t look like every other Wal-Mart from here to Moscow!  We went ahead and got our shopping cart and started getting the food that we needed.  But little did we know we were about to run out of food aisles.

HELL (apparently) HAS FROZEN OVER!  Last night marks the first time I have EVER been to Wal-Mart and didn’t leave with more than I needed!  I mean even when you are road tripping and stop to use the bathroom at Wal-Mart you buy stuff.  It was nuts!  They didn’t have a produce section!  The food section was the same size as the back to school supplies or the candy section in any normal Wal-Mart!  I didn’t know what to do with myself!

Needless to say, we will be looking for a new place to shop for groceries.  Anyone know of a cheap grocery store around here?

Walmart is the best. I agree with the rest of your comments, you were in a regular Walmart and not a Supercenter. Boo Target!
